Course Summary
This introduction to business finance is a must for any new business
owner, non-financial business owner/operator, and finance managers new
to the small business industry. In this course you will learn fundamental
accounting concepts including how your financial transactions end up
on your reports. Participants will exit this intense 3-hour program
knowing the 5-number formula for business management, and most importantly
having a clear picture of what they don't know.

• The Basics, understanding your Chart of Accounts (COA)
• Understanding how to use your Profit & Loss report
• Reading your Balance Sheet
• Cash vs. Accrual
• Cut-off dates, accurate reporting
• Non-cash expenses, the hidden deductions!
• The Structure: tracking and documentation
• "The Magic Five" formula for success
• Creating a five year financial plan

With multiple instructors from Freetrac and our
Small Business Resource Group, this 12-month program is a hands-on workshop
for business planning. You will meet once monthly with 12-15 other business
owners and managers, as well as the instructor of your choice for one
and one half hours each month. Your SBFC group remains constant throughout
the year, providing support and networking not always available with
shorter venues. The four major areas of business are covered in depth.

This course is provided twice yearly. January and September are major
planning months for the business owner. This course is a hands-on workshop
for an annual personal plan-just as important as your business plan.
Business needs will be included, though the course material is intended
to provide balance in the life of the business owner/manager. This course
provides the basic evaluation/planning template for personal and professional
success.
